Region Profile
Russian River Valley
There’s a reason the Russian River Valley—and especially Westside Road—holds a kind of quiet reverence among winemakers. This cool-climate AVA, covering over 150 square miles in Sonoma County, is defined by its morning fog, which flows in from the Pacific through the Petaluma Gap and Russian River corridor. That fog lingers into late morning, allowing grapes to ripen slowly and retain their natural acidity. With over 15,000 acres planted to wine grapes—primarily pinot noir and chardonnay—the region has earned its reputation as one of the world’s premier places for these Burgundian varieties.
Westside Road is the crown jewel, home to some of the most pedigreed vineyard sites in California. Its ancient riverbed soils and prized Goldridge loam offer the ideal balance of drainage and subtle stress, coaxing wines of perfume, finesse, and quiet power. These are not wines that shout—they captivate, slowly, glass by glass.
